En esta oportunidad, la Sociedad Mont Pelerin se reúne el próximo mes de abril en Buenos Aires. Si hoy se reune en América Latina, es porque, seguramente, la principal amenaza está donde nosotros vivimos.
Si alguien encuentra la oportunidad de proponer buenas ideas y manifestar la situación en nuestro país, la MPS también ha lanzado un concurso de ensayos, donde los ganadores tendrán presencia en la reunión. Una muy buena oportunidad para ser aprovechada por quienes así lo creyeran, por eso reenvío este mail, si además no lo recibieron antes.

Fundación Libertad is glad to invite you to the Mont Pelerin
Society Buenos Aires Regional Meeting from 17 – 20 April, 2011.
We live in the century of liberty. Or at least, that is the
perception of those who live not just in the Western hemisphere,
but the whole world. With few exceptions -such as Cuba, North
Korea, Vietnam, China and some countries in the Middle East-
today, people can elect their leaders, work freely to earn their
salary, own property and even as America’s Founding Fathers
foretold, pursue their own happiness.
However, the trend in Latin America does not seem to be moving
forward the same direction. Regional governments have found new
ways to revive populism, limit liberties and increase the power
of the State.
In this context, the importance of holding a MPS Regional
Meeting in Argentina arises, to give out a signal of distress
about the road our countries are being led down and, at the same
time, show that there are people and institutions that still
believe in liberty and the respect of fundamental rights as the
best formula to improve the quality of Latin Americans’
lives.
The title of our program “The Populist Challenge to Latin
American Liberty” shows our intention to raise the topics that
threaten our nations, which will focus on:
- How to overcome Institutional weakness in Latin America
- Populism in Latin America: a sociological and political
analysis
- Bi-Centennial Historical perspective
- The defense of the values of free enterprise
- Development and the ideas of freedom in Latin America
- Latin American Literature and Freedom
Join us and hear the lectures and discussions of important
intellectuals, international leaders and experts participating
in this program, addressing these important issues of Latin
America.
